National florist Interflora has recently been penalised by Google in the search engine rankings for generic search terms such as 'florist', 'flowers', 'flower delivery' and even its own brand name 'Interflora'. A few weeks ago, Google announced the launch of its new ‘Disavow Tool’ which allows webmasters to remove the association between them and any link source they deem to be unnatural. It seems that this tool has caused some confusion as to who should use it and what it should be used for, so hopefully this blog post can help users to understand the benefits – and the dangers of using this tool.

Recently, many clients have asked me, “why is (not provided) my most popular keyword?”
This is because Google now restrict the keyword data that is passed to Google Analytics from users that are searching whilst signed in to a Google account. These restricted keywords are collectively grouped as (not provided) in Google Analytics... but why would Google do this? [...]
